Submission Guide
Information for Authors
The Undergraduate Scientific Review at Arizona State University is a collegiate level journal that publishes research of various forms in an online platform. We seek to publish papers that are well-researched and will advance scientific understanding. Please ensure that final articles adhere to the guide provided on this page prior to submission.
Article Types
Research articles feature original research work that fills a gap in the existing literature. The word limit is 1500 words.
Review articles summarize the existing research in a field and provide recommendations for future work. Review articles cannot provide novel data. The word limit is 750 words.
Case studies discuss a patient case, relevant clinical information and diagnosis, along with analysis on how the diagnosis was made.
Honors contracts may be accepted as submissions, following USR format and guidelines. Please discuss with your professor prior to submission.
Format of Articles
Research and review articles should follow the same format. All articles must include: Abstract (300 word limit), Introduction (including brief literature review for research articles), Materials/Methods, Results (original tables and graphs may be used), Discussion, and APA References. Images may be used if cited properly and are subject to deletion.
Case studies should be HIPAA compliant, with no personal health information. Case studies must include Abstract (300 word limit), Introduction (including relevant literature review), Case, and Discussion.
Submission for Review
Articles and manuscripts should be submitted at our submission link here. Responses and communication between editors and authors will be through email. Submissions that do not follow the provided guidelines will not be accepted. Publication timeline varies by submission.
